- Accent Wall
What is an accent wall you ask? Simply put, an accent wall is a wall whose design differs from the other walls in the room. Here are a few ways of creating accent walls.
● Paint the selected wall using a different colour from the rest of the room. The selected colour should be in harmony with the colour scheme for your space.
● Use wallpaper that complements the colours in the room.
● Use the wall to highlight your art and decor pieces.
You can use your TV area as an accent wall and decorate accordingly.
- Lighting
Lighting is everything in a room, it brings out the colours, patterns and vibrancy of the room. It is critical to have good natural lighting flowing into your space. You can add more light to your space with floor and table lamps.
Remember to include mirrors and glass furniture to reflect the natural lighting in your room. This will make your space lively and vibrant.
- Colour
Colour holds power, it impacts our moods and emotions. Incorporate both neutral and bold colours in your space. Vibrant colours such as red, yellow and orange add energy to your space. Find a way of toning down this energy by adding darker colours to achieve a perfect balance. If you want to achieve an elegant feel, go the neutral colour route, and tone down your colours- red to maroon, yellow to cream etc. A monochromatic colour palette is highly recommended.

The texture is the look and feel of your space. This is the shiny, matte, rough feeling in your space. For example, we recommend heavy fabrics if you have a leather sofa. Incorporate texture in your drapery, rugs, wall art, vases, sculptures etc. When buying home decor, look for items with textures that complement your furniture and space.
